Autism cannot be diagnosed by using laboratory analysis or radiology and what makes it more difficult is that most symptoms that a child suffers may appear similar to others associated with other behavioral disorders. Therefore, it is ideal to assess a child with an assistance of a staff of experts from different specializations including:
     •  A neurologist.
     •  A psychologist.
     •  A pediatrician specialized in child`s development.
     •  Speech – language pathologist.
     •  Occupational therapist.
     •  Autism therapist.
Many programs have also been developed and applied by specialists for diagnosing autism such as:
     •  Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS ).
     •  Autism Diagnostic interview.
     •  Autism Diagnostic interview – Revised (ADI-R ).
     •  Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS).
     •  Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (CHAT).
     •  Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 4th edition (DSM-IV).
